Local Trail Conditions

Feb 19. 2021

All trails have been packed and trackset. Conditions are generally very good right now with just the odd thin spot to watch out.
Note on trail etiquette: Please do not herring bone on top of the set tracks when going up the hills. There are a lot of skiers who accept climbing up the hills in the tracks as a personal challenge to make it all the way up in the tracks. Difficult to do so if the tracks have been compromised. Thank you :-).

Trails have been recently groomed.  As we have had some additional snow, there are now set classic tracks on Aspen, Campground trails, Fescue, Wolfwillow, Wildrose and Cathedral loop (see map). The Walter Scott trail (lakeside) is groomed for skate skiing with a small section of classic tracks between the start of the trail and the bird blind.  As the base is still quite thin you need to keep your eye out for a few spots where there is some grass/dirt.  The majority of the trails however are quite good thus giving us the best conditions of the season so far.

Notice for skate skiers: please do not skate on top of the set classic tracks as you damage the tracks for classic skiers (probably the majority of skiers).  You are welcome to use these trails but keep your skis in the tracks and focus on double poling (which can make for a good abdominal workout).  To learn more about double poling click here.

Parents with little skiers:  Do not worry about your kids falling on the tracks ... that's what they are supposed to do.... just get them out on the trails as its the best skiing of the year so far.
