Notice for the 2023-24 season.
Greetings past Vermilion Nordic members,
The club executive met recently to make plans for the upcoming ski season. This year, we are having to plan around the current closure of the CN Station. Although our wax room is still available to us, we are unable to use the main part of the building for club events. We have been told, however, that we can use the shelter in the parking lot for our events. The shelter has power and a wood stove, but no indoor washrooms (there are outhouses in the parking lot). The use of the shelter will allow us to gather for social events, as well as to offer our Jackrabbit program.
We plan to kick off the season on Sunday, November 19. We will begin with a wiener roast at 1:00. The club will supply wieners, buns, and hot chocolate, and members are invited to bring sides or desserts to share. Please bring your own dishes and cutlery. Following the meal, members who wish to rent equipment may do so.
As in past years, we will be using the Zone4 online registration system for membership. Registration will be live in the next week (watch for another email with the link to the registration page), and the process should be fairly straightforward, following the instructions on the website. If, at any point, you are unsure of how to proceed, please feel free to email me, and I'll do my best to help you out.
We ask those who would like to rent equipment for the upcoming season to please register as a member online FIRST, as club policy is to rent equipment to members only. Please note that payment for rentals will still be made directly to the club - rental fees can be paid using cash or cheque (damage and cleaning deposits are best made using two separate post-dated cheques). You can visit the club website (under Club Information section) for rental and registration rates. It will be updated soon with this year's information.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. If you are unable to attend the rental event and would like to arrange another time, please let me know. Also, please feel free to forward this email to share information about our club event with anyone who may be interested in joining - we would love to have some new members!
I look forward to seeing many of you on November 19!
