Bulletin Board
April 2021
Hi all,
Thank you everyone for your patience as we worked to come up with a plan to have skis returned, cleaned, and waxed. Initially, we thought we could schedule appointments for cleaning and waxing with individuals and families, as we did for renting equipment. Given the recent surge in COVID numbers, even this now seems too risky. We have decided to ask members to simply drop off their rented equipment, and members of the executive will look after the cleaning and waxing. This will avoid the necessity of unrelated individuals having to share space in the wax room. We will NOT be cashing any cleaning or damage deposit cheques, as long as the equipment is returned.
Please return any rented equipment at your convenience, any time after noon today. You can access the wax room (code for door is 1-3-5, top button is 1) any day and time that is convenient for you. Please make sure to do the following:
On behalf of the VNSC Executive, I would like to thank you all for joining us this year; we were happy to see so many new members! Hopefully you will be back next year, and we can return to our usual programming of events and activities.
We wish everyone a safe, healthy, and active summer. Hope to see you out on the trails!
Sandra

- Do NOT enter the wax room if anyone else is there. Please wait outside until the wax room is empty.
- Do NOT enter the wax room if you are experiencing any COVID symptoms, or have been a close contact of anyone with COVID.
- Please use the hand sanitizer and wipes provided to sanitize your hands and wipe down all equipment.
- Please use the elastics and/or electrical tape provided to bundle your family's equipment together. Find the paper with your family's name on it, and attach this to the bundled equipment. This will allow us to identify whose equipment has been returned.
- Please make sure to lock the wax room door when you are done (turn knob)
- Please email me (and cc kaylanross@hotmail.com) to let us know once you have returned the equipment.

Greetings Vermilion Nordic members,
Looks like we are almost ready to be out on skis...on that note, I'd like to let you know that registration for the 2020-2021 season is now open. Please see the information below (and on our website vermilionnordic.com) about registration, rentals, and programming. As in every other aspect of our lives, we will have to change the way we do things, but the Club is committed to getting our members out on skis, and enjoying the trails, in a safe manner. Details of our COVID-19 protocols are provided below.
If any of you were less than thrilled at the sight of all that snow this morning, I invite you to spend some time watching the last Vermilion Nordic video, from the 2016-2017 season (https://youtu.be/4INfcmZHxbE). It might help to inspire you…
Please feel free to share this email with anyone who would be interested in joining our ski community. I look forward to seeing many of you out on the trails this year!

Rentals
We cannot plan our usual ‘rental day’, which always involves a crowd of people in the wax room. Instead, some of our experienced club members have volunteered to take shifts in fitting and renting out equipment. Please see the link below to see rental information and make an appointment. We ask that you please be on time for your appointment, and also that you be patient if there is a wait. The volunteers will be doing their best to keep to the schedule, but sometimes the process can take longer than expected.
Please note that in order to rent equipment, you must
· Be a club member (have already completed the online registration process)
· Wear a mask while in the wax room and complete the Health Assessment Checklist
· Print out the rental form (link on rental page), and complete personal information
· Pay for the rentals with cash or cheques, and provide post-dated cheques for damage and cleaning deposits

Programming
This year, our programming for members will look a little bit different. We don’t anticipate being able to run any waxing workshops, due to the limited space in the wax room. However, we are hopeful that we can still plan for some outdoor activities, such as moonlight skis, a long distance ski, and other group ski outings. Sadly, we will not be able to host potluck meals in conjunction with these, although we are considering adding regular bonfires and wiener roasts to our events calendar!
Jackrabbits
It is likely that we will continue to offer our Jackrabbit program. We have, however, decided to wait until January. As long as conditions at that time permit, we will go ahead with sessions, with some necessary modifications. Parents will be required to be on snow with children, as leaders will not be permitted to assist them with equipment, clothing, getting up after falling, etc. Families will need to bring their own snacks. If possible (based on AHS guidelines at that point), we will continue to gather in the CN Station following the session, and the Club will provide the hot chocolate.
